Lolita is very rich and very, very, beautiful. She is also stubborn and strong willed - and altogether spoilt. But bundled in that spirited and impatient person is a heart of gold. Just turned 20, Lolita is the eldest daughter of Jayanto Chatterjee. Her younger sister, Labanyo, 19 years old is her didi's exact opposite: quiet, cool and controlled. Right now Jayanto has a major problem! Lolita has taken a fancy to a model -SID. She will marry him and only him!

On the other hand is Ishaan Lahiri. Ishaan, twenty-five, comes from a joint family. All his cousin brothers and sisters have had love marriages. But Ishaan has no life partner in mind. He does not even remember ever having a girl friend. Once his job as an IT Engineer is made permanent, his family wants him to get married and settle down.

So the family starts their search for the bride. One after the other, Ishaan's marriage alliances breakdown! The reasons are outrageously silly! Some parents refuse to give their daughters in marriage to Ishaan because the lanes leading to his house get flooded in the monsoons. Others do not want their daughter to get married into a joint family. Some find the rooms in the Lahiri house dingy and lacking in cross ventilation.

We have all heard about the humiliation, a girl has to go through in an arranged marriage. However, Ishaan was not ready for the humiliation he would be put through. Ishaan was subjected to the weirdest of questions: His height, the colour of his eyes. Did he smoke? Did he drink? How soon did he want to start a family? How many children did he want to have? Ishaan, fed up, gave up the idea of marriage altogether!

On the other hand Lolita's father has also started his search for a suitable boy. Lolita tells Sid that they will need to get married and he would need to talk to her father. SID is totally against this idea and says - Lolita is not a marriage material. By now Lolita's spirit had totally been crushed. She had withdrawn into a shell, and had become unusually quiet. Jayanto's heart went out to his daughter but he could do little to assuage her pain. However, it was the family doctor who came to the rescue. He suggested that Jayanto marry Lolita to Ishaan Lahiri. The boy was educated, doing a good job, and most important desperately looking for a wife. As a bahu in that big, disciplined joint family, Lolita would transform from being only a beautiful girl into truly being a beautiful human being.

When Jayanto approached Lolita with the idea, she said she did not have any opinion in the matter…. She would go along with whatever her father decided. Ditto Ishaan, he did not even want to see the photographs of the girl. He would agree to whatever the elders of the family decided. When the bahus of the Lahiri household went to see Lolita they found her to be demure and well-behaved and also very beautiful. When they asked if she wanted to inquire anything about Ishaan… She said: 'No'! Her father considered him a very good boy. And she had total faith in her father's judgement. And so it happened that Lolita got betrothed to Ishaan.

Then came the Phul Shojjar Raat - the night of the Bridal Chamber. As per custom, Ishaan opened a small, jewellery box to present his bride with a diamond ring. But Lolita simply pulled a blanket, covered herself and fell off to sleep! Lolita had just thrown her first tantrum!

Thus starts the married life of Ishaan and Lolita. Never were husband and wife so poles apart! Never had a man and woman so little in common! Thus starts Lolita's journey to become the perfect bride.

Everyone in the Lahiri family takes good care of Lolita. Her likes, dislikes and wants are considered by the family. For the first time AC is installed in the Lahiri family because Lolita cannot sleep with out it. But Lolita is very clear that her marriage was a mistake! She tells Ishaan that she would leave the first chance she gets. But in the meanwhile she becomes close to this loving family - she wants to help them out. She initiates to go grocery shopping for the family but she overspends, she calls a doctor when Ishaan's grandfather becomes ill but his fees is too high. The family realizes that Lolita has a heart of gold only she would need to get used to the ways of the Lahiri family. One day she comes to know from her friends that SID has met with an accident she goes to meet him. Lolita comes to know that SID never had a good character and has cheated many girls. She breaks down. Ishaan makes her understand that SID never deserved Lolita.SID never realized Lolita's value he was no one to say whether she could become a good wife or not and Lolita should have nothing to prove to him!

Lolita finally decides that it is time she left but she cannot break the news to the family. There occurs many incidents one after the other in which she gets involved and cannot leave. Unknowingly she has become close to all the members of the family, she has started caring about their well being. Jayanto is relieved to see the attachment Lolita has grown for her in-laws. Lolita who has grown up all alone finds love and care in this loving family.
