Storyline: Durga is a village girl who is an earnest devotee of Maa Durga. She hears the stories of Maa Durga who sacrificed her life to get married to Shiva. Durga, in her dreams see flashes of a boy, captive and tortured somewhere. She knows that, that boy is his destiny, her future husband and as if Maa Durga has send her to protect that boy.

Rupam Roychoudhury is the only heir to the huge fortune left by his parents Jayanti and Arindam who died in a fatal road accident in which only Jayanti's body was found. Rupam, who has become mentally and physically challenged after witnessing his parents death is dominated by his aunt, Arindam's brother Arijit's wife Damini.

Damini is the custodian of Roychoudhury fortune and head of this family. It is known that Damini had planned the accident in which Rupam's parents were killed. She controls the entire household with support from her elder son Srirup and Neela, her daughter in law from her younger son Arup. Damini's moves are opposed by Arijit, her husband but he remains silent for some unknown reason. Aniruddha, the eldest brother of Arijit and Arindam is an ally of Damini.

Aniruddha and Srirup run the family business actually owned by Rupam, under instructions from Damini. Titli, Damini's only daughter is against her mother and she sometimes protests Damini's atrocities. Ketaki, wife of Srirup is a former model and she does not like to pay much heed to the family matters. Meanwhile Damini's rage against Rupam continues as she gives him shock therapy and maltreats him enough to keep him as he is. Rupam though remains so is afraid of fire and the colour red but is an avid painter who paints the picture of a beautiful girl.

Meanwhile, Kanai, the servant at Roychoudhury house is sacked from his job. Kanai returns to his village where he finds Durga who looks exactly like the girl whom Rupam used to paint. Kanai calls Arijit and tells him about Durga. Durga, mesmerized by Maa Durga's sacrifice starts her own sacrifice by inflicting pain on her. She even sets herself on fire but her father Shibnath and Sarbajaya save her.

Arijit plans to save Rupam and he takes him along to Durga's village. Meanwhile, Damini announces Rupam's marriage with Jhumur, an aspiring junior artist of film industry. Jhumur, along with her mother Manorama come to stay at Roychoudhury house. Arijit and Kanai in consultation with the village priest plan Durga and Rupam's marriage. Durga sees Rupam and identifies him as the boy who often came to her dreams. They get married.

Arijit and Kanai bring Rupam and Durga back as Damini gets furious to see them married. She reluctantly agrees to that to save her family's goodwill but Manorama and Jhumur stay there. Damini starts her oppression and cruelty towards Durga. But Durga sticks firmly on her stand to cure Rupam. Can Damini cure Rupam and they can live happily ever after?
