STAR Jalsha Launches Swayamwar A unique reality show about marriage on 25th May, 2009 Kolkata, 20th May, 2009: STAR Jalsha, the leading Bengali Entertainment Channel, has launched yet another exciting & pulsating show named, "Swayamwar". Premiering on 25th May, at 9.30pm, with an objective to establish a new genus of reality shows on Bengali television, Swayamwar is a reality show that will be truly a first on Bengali television giving three young girls a unique opportunity to choose their life partners on television! This innovative show involves young marriageable women who will meet eligible boys, who in turn will be engaged in an array of tasks to prove their credibility to the girls. Unlike the age-old social practice of getting to know the prospective groom and his family in a brief arranged meeting, women will now get an opportunity to know all about the groom and his family and evaluate their choice and take a far more empowered decision. Over a period of 13 weeks, Swayamwar will have 3 women will be choosing their partners from a group of 12 men shortlisted from hundreds of applicants. The men will be engaged in participating in various sub-contests to woo the women and prove themselves as the most eligible bachelor. The show will be full of twists and turns and this will help the girls to make a right choice for themselves. Apart from the tasks, there will also be some mushy romantic moments like - coffee dates, evening walks where the boys will get chances aplenty to impress the girls. The show will be filled with fun moments that involve parents siblings and best friends helping the girls in their choices, and some emotional ones when prospective boys get eliminated, making it overall an engrossing experience for all audiences. There will be elimination rounds every week and finally the three shortlisted men paired with the three women will vie for the title of - Jodi No 1. Anchored by Abir Goswami & Monalisa, Directed by Debasish Sarkar and Tarun Chopra and produced by Shri Venkatesh Films, Swayamwar promises to be a fun-filled and interesting show for both young viewers and their parents. Swayamwar is all about match-making in the 21st century for the generation who likes to make their own choices. The three women are - Taniya, a History professor, Koyel, a professional model and Tanima, a Dance teacher.
